Overnight in Salt Lake City

This past week, I had to make a spontaneous trip for work to meet a client we were bidding a project to in Salt Lake City, UT.  Just to clarify, the project is not in Salt Lake City, just the home office for the client.

That being said, myself and another colleague jumped on a plane Wednesday afternoon in San Antonio for a meeting first thing Thursday morning.

Up to this point in time, I had never been to Salt Lake City nor considered it as a location on my places to visit list.  This has probably been highly influenced by the perception that many people have of the city based on its relationship with the Mormon Church and its following (that statement is in no way meant to be misinterpreted, but I think that people understand what I am trying to say).

So surprisingly as we started final descent into the city, the scenery was beautiful.  The city is surrounded by mountains on three sides and the Great Salt Lake on the other.  The mountains still had a nice snow cap in the upper elevations as you can see in the photo I snapped with the point and shoot from my hotel room Thursday morning.

From what I could tell during my brief stay in town, the city has great access to outdoor and mountain sports; a pedestrian friendly up and coming downtown and some nice photo ops for people who like that sort of thing.

At the least, the trip was a great opportunity to change my mind about something I probably would not think much about unless the topic came up...

More scenery from my balcony below and more to come soon.
